Your Eyes Matter.

Taking care of your eyes is one of the most important things that can help you in your daily life and improve the quality .

VISIT YOUR EYE DOCTOR:

If you are having trouble with your vision or eyes , visit your eye doctor(ophthalmologist).

Visits should be:( if you don’t have any problem with your eyes )

5–10 yearly till age of 30.

2–4 yearly till age of 60.

1–2 yearly after 60 years age.

REMOVE CONTACTS IN TIME:

Take your contacts off before sleeping and try not wearing them longer then 18 hours.

NEVER sleep, swim or over use( beyond manufacturer recommendation ).

REMOVE YOUR EYE MAKEUP:

Remove your eye makeup before sleeping and never go to bed with makeup on, it will clog the pores in and around your eyes and can lead to dryness, infection and discomfort.

UV PROTECTED GLASSES:

Use UV protected glasses especially if you are outside . Try wearing sun glasses even when in shades as UV ays can still harm the eyes.

UV rays effect in long term and can lead to cataract, macular degeneration corneal degeneration etc.

SLEEP AND EXERCISE:

Good 8 hour sleep especially at night and regular routine of exercise 25–30 min daily for 3–4 times/ week can help reduce the eye problems like glaucoma and retinal degeneration in long term and also relax the eyes.

SCREEN TIME EYE PROTECTION:

Looking at your mobile/computer screen causes damage to the eyes in different from and from short term to long term ,like pain ,strain in muscles ,dry eyes and redness.

DO’s:

Room and computer screen should both be not too dim or too brightly lit.

Sit at the level of screen.

Blink your eyes frequently to help wipe the tear film over your eyes.

Follow 20–20–20 rule.

HEALTHY EATING:

Start eating ,

More green vegetable.

Dry fruits with antioxidants like Walnut ,Almonds , Pistachio.

Food with Vitamin A,C,E and Zinc like Nuts ,oranges ,strawberries ,broccoli etc .

Foods with Lutein ,Zeaxanthin like Broccoli and Spinach.

Omega 3 , mostly present in fish like salmon and sardines .

GOOD SUPPLEMENTATION:

Food supplements with lutein ,Zeaxanthin ,Omega 3 and Vitamins needed for eye are easily available and should be used especially after the age of 40 years or in case of any pathology in eye.

They help in improving vision and eye safety in long term.
