GENERAL OPHTHALMOLOGY
EYELID INFECTIONS
Eyelid infections like stye misdirected lash tumors or lid lacerations etc.
CATARACT
A medical condition in which the lens of the eye becomes progressively opaque, resulting in blurred vision.
RED EYE
Red eye can most commonly be due to infection, bacterial and viral or dry eye,s and raised ocular pressure (galucoma).
CORNEAL ULCER
A corneal ulcer is an open sore on the cornea. There are a wide variety of causes of corneal ulcers, including infection, physical and chemical trauma, corneal drying and exposure, and contact lens over wear and misuse. Corneal ulcers are a serious problem and may result in loss of vision or blindness.
TRAUMA
Conditions like Scratched eyes, Penetrating injuries, Chemical burns, Swelling Eye bleeding, Traumatic iritis, Hyphemas, and Orbital blowout fractures can result from trauma.
CORNEA REFRACTIVE
The most common types of refractive errors are myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, and astigmatism. … Astigmatism is a condition in which the eye does not focus light evenly onto the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. This can cause images to appear blurry and stretched out.
GLAUCOMA
A condition of increased pressure within the eyeball, causing gradual loss of sight.
MEDICAL RETINA
The retina is the light-sensing tissue that resides in the back of your eye. … Common retinal conditions include floaters, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, and retinitis pigmentosa.
Oculoplastics, or oculoplastic surgery, includes a wide variety of surgical procedures that deal with the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. It also deals with the reconstruction of the eye and associated structures.
OCULOPLASTICS / SQUINT EYE SURGERY / COSMETIC EYE SURGERY
DR. ARSLAN’S WORK IN OCULOPLASTICS INCLUDES CLINICAL AND SURGICAL TREATMENT PROCEDURES FOR THE FOLLOWING:
SQUINT
WATERY EYE
watery eye (Dacryocystitis) is an infection of the lacrimal sac, secondary to obstruction of the nasolacrimal duct at the junction of lacrimal sac. The term derives from the Greek dákryon (tear), cysta (sac), and -itis (inflammation). It causes pain, redness, and swelling over the inner aspect of the lower eyelid and epiphora.
ENTROPION
Entropion is a medical condition in which the eyelid (usually the lower lid) folds inward. It is very uncomfortable, as the eyelashes continuously rub against the cornea causing irritation. Entropion is usually caused by genetic factors.
ECTROPION
Ectropion (ek-TROH-pee-on) is when your lower eyelid turns or sags outward, away from your eye, exposing the surface of your inner eyelid. This condition can cause eye dryness, excessive tearing, and irritation.
BAGGY EYES
baggy eyes plastic surgery operation for correcting defects, deformities, and disfigurations of the eyelids; and for aesthetically modifying the eye region of the face, blephroplasty.
EYE LID RECONSTRUCTION
Eye lid reconstruction surgeries for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes after lid trauma or tumor.
CORNEAL TATTOOING
Corneal tattooing is the practice of tattooing the cornea of the human eye. Reasons for this practice include improvement of cosmetic appearance and the improvement of sight. Many different methods and procedures exist today.
ENUCLEATION
Enucleation is the removal of the eye leaving the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact. In case of deformed or non viable eye due to trauma or tumor, and along with that ORBITAL reconstruction with ocular prosthesis is done.
OTHER PROCEDURES
Other procedures such as the repair of droopy eyelids (blepharoplasty), repair of tear duct obstructions, orbital fracture repairs, removal of tumors in and around the eyes, and eyelid reconstruction.
EYE problems in children: Children experience a variety of eye problems, many quite distinct from adult eye diseases. Pediatric ophthalmologists are specially trained to manage the following disorders:
PEDIATRIC / CHILD EYE SURGERY
DR ARSLAN’S WORK IN PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY INCLUDES
REFRACTIVE ERRORS
Refractive errors such as myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness) and astigmatism can often be corrected with prescriptions for glasses or contacts.
STRABISMUS
Strabismus which is a misalignment of the eyes that affects 2-4% of the population; it is often associated with amblyopia. The term strabismus applies to other types of misalignments, including an upward, downward, or outward-turning eye.
AMBLYOPIA
Amblyopia (aka lazy eye) occurs when the vision of one eye is significantly better than the other eye, and the brain begins to rely on the better eye and ignore the weaker one. Amblyopia affects 4% of the population and is clinically diagnosed when the refractive error of one eye is more than. The management of amblyopia involves correcting of significant refractive errors and using techniques that encourage the brain to pay attention to the weaker eye such as patching the stronger eye(occlusion therapy).
INFECTIONS
Infections or conjactivitus, stye, chalazion.
PEDATRIC CATARACTS
Many people think cataracts only happen to older people, but children can get cataracts too. Both pediatric cataracts and cataracts from aging are a clouding in the lens of the eye that can cause blurry vision or blindness.
BLOCKED TEAR DUCTS
Tears normally drain through small openings in the corners of the upper and lower eyelids called puncta and enter the nose through the nasolacrimal duct. Tear duct construction prevents tears from draining through this system normally.
PTOSIS
Ptosis in children is a drooping or falling of the upper eyelid in one or both eyes present at birth.
GENETIC DISORDERS
Genetic disorders often cause eye problems for affected children. Since approximately 30% of genetic syndromes affect the eyes, examination by a pediatric ophthalmologist can help with the diagnosis of genetic conditions. Many pediatric ophthalmologists participate with multi-disciplinary medical teams that treat children with genetic syndromes.
CONGENITAL MALFORMATIONS
Congenital malformations affecting vision or the tear drainage duct system can be evaluated and possibly surgically corrected by a pediatric ophthalmologist.
ORBITAL TUMORS
Other procedures such as the repair of droopy eyelids (blepharoplasty), repair of tear duct obstructions, orbital fracture repairs, removal of tumors in and around the eyes, eyelid reconstruction.

- Accommodative insufficiency
- Convergence insufficiency and asthenopia
